In 2005, my wife convinced me to get off the couch and run a 5k.  I wasn't fast, but there
weren't many in my age group, so ended up taking a 2nd place age group award.  I was
hooked.  I trained on my own for several months, and saw almost no improvement.  I
had no idea how to train, and what was worse, I didn't realize that I didn't know how to
train.

Then, I signed up for the Set Goals, Not Limits training program.  I learned about
pacing, weekly mileage, stretching, nutrition, race strategy, and also got a ton of
encouragement from everyone at camp.

In a period of about 1 year, I took over 3 minutes off of my 5k time (21:20 to 17:58).  I
went from being in the top 100 of most races to being in the top 10, and that
improvement wouldn't have been possible without the coaching I got from Doug Butler
at Set Goals, Not Limits.

I have met great people to run with that inspire me to reach my goals. I never imagined
how much I would enjoy the camp and the camaraderie of fellow runners. This was my
first experience with professional training and I couldn't believe the benefits I received
from it. I have greater endurance and have improved my speed. Doug excels at
tailoring his training to each runner’s ability and wants each runner to realize his/her
full potential. He gets as excited about our performances as we do. I am looking
forward to the next camp!

The numbers speak for themselves.  I ran the Gecko 5K last year, which was my first
race ever.  I ran it in 42:09.  Two weeks later I joined Doug's camp and have been
enjoying his camps ever since.  I've met a lot of nice people, and have had a lot of fun.

I ran the Gecko again this year, and my time was 28:55, over 13 minutes faster than
last year!  I'm seeing improvements regularly.  I have no doubt in my mind I would not
have improved any where near as much as I did had it not been for Doug's camps.

I highly recommend them!

Angie
Thanks again for all you do.  You have made the world of difference in my running
times, my outlook on running possibilities, my attitude and my life in general.  I thank
God for you and your camp everyday.  I know He sent me your way for a reason.  I am
sure it's hard doing what you do and I am sure you get some flack.  But once again
thanks for making a difference.

Thank you for the running camp, it was a great experience.  I look forward to doing it
next summer!

See you and your team at XC,

Thanks Doug, for the nice camp.  For all the years I have been running, it is always
nice to hear new points of view, new ideas and opinions, and re-enforcment of the
things I have heard over the years.  You did all three during the camp.

I will keep up with you between now, and the time I race the half in Utah.  I surely will let
you know the results when I return.  1:27:40 PR two years ago - hoping to be close...

Coach Butler,

Thank you for giving your time, effort and knowledge to all of the participants in Set
Goals Not Limits Running Camp 2007.  Every time I run, your voice is in the back of my
head advising how to get the most from the training program and giving
encouragement to get the most out of myself.  I ran for over 20 years as a way to stay
active and in good shape.  Now I run because I enjoy it again and want to train smarter
and get faster.

I did not reach my goal for camp this year (5K in under 21:00) but I improved on last
year's time and know how to work to reach the goal next year.  Maybe I can catch Loran
one day!

Thanks,
James Towers
